We are currently looking to appoint an experienced and passionate community leader to the exciting new role of Youth Team Lead within Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey. Oasis vision is for transformed communities, and so community is at the heart of everything we do. Oasis works through Hubs, which are local Christ-centred places of activity that provide integrated, high quality and diverse services to benefit the whole person and the whole community.

As the Youth Team Lead you will be responsible for leading a team of youth workers working across the Academy (Years 7-13) providing activities before, during and after school.  Activities delivered by the team will include open access engagement, targeted mentoring (particularly linked to attendance and pastoral support) and engaging afterschool and evening activities. You will be joining a vibrant local Hub community team working closely with the Academy and other agencies in the local community. Existing activities include the Sheppey support bus (a mobile social supermarket and advice centre that works across the Island).

Our ideal Candidate

We are seeking a highly relational and experienced Youth Leader to join us in this exciting position. To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Experience of leading youth work programmes
  • Good understanding of youth work theories and practice
  • Experience of growing projects from the initial start-up phase through to maturity
  • Experience of leading and line managing a team of staff and volunteers
  • Evidence of sustained development and improvement in significant projects
