AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable for leading and managing the implementation of the relevant Academy policies and
development plans as determined by the Principal and Hub Council and in relation to:
• Develop and trial Teaching and Learning Strategies within curriculum departments
• Keep abreast of current local and national developments in pedagogy
• Focus on the quality of Teaching and Learning, developing meaningful pedagogic experiences
for students
• Form an important part of our Teaching and Learning team, focused on implementation of
Strategy and how this directly impacts the outcomes for our students
• Line Manage Curriculum Leaders

General responsibilities:
• The post holder will be expected to work in close collaboration and liaison with the Principal
and the Deputy Principals.
• The post holder is expected to support the Academy’s aims, ethos and vision, to be familiar
with Academy policies and procedures and reinforce these with all stakeholders as
appropriate.
• The post holder shall have the professional duties of an Assistant Principal in accordance
with the current DCSF’s School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions document and wider
responsibilities relating to strategic direction and development, teaching and learning,
leading and managing staff and efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources in
consultation with the Principal.

through observations and ‘book looks’, Curriculum sequencing and mapping
• Support planning, team-teaching, and delivering all Staff Development and CPD
• Provide personalised professional coaching support through discussion about their practice
• Lead on Oasis Horizons Programme within the Academy
• Lead as EVC Champion, taking responsibility for all learning outside the classroom and support
staff to plan and manage off-site visits
• Develop new initiatives for Subject Leadership within the Academy
• Line Manage Curriculum Leaders
